I'd just thought I'd let you know that Rooms (the IRC client I reviewed) has had it's price raised to $2.99.

Yahoo! oneConnect

I recently downloaded oneConnect from the App Store and so far, I love it, it allows you to update your status across many social networking sites like Facebook, YouTube, MySpace and Twitter. It also allows you to view the updates of your friends of the above networking sites. It also acts as a Yahoo! Messenger client as well.

This application is free and can be found in the Social Networking category of the App Store.

Rooms: A follow up review.

Alright guys, here's the deal. A new update was just relesed for Rooms and it has added all of the features that I siad that it lacked in my previous post. I highly reccomend this iPhone Application now. It is now worth the 99¢ it costs. You can follow the link to Rooms in the App Store in the other post or you can click here to go to the Rooms download page.

P.S: Another thing that I didn't mention in the other review of Rooms is that it does cost 99¢. I think 99¢ is perfect for this app.

Rooms - Your Mobile Chat Client

As this is the first review that App Store Reviews has reviewed (notice how I am using the word "review" in all of it's pretenses) I decided to do it on one of my most favorite apps, Rooms. Rooms is the first and only non-web based IRC client for the iPhone/iPod touch. according to the discription on the App Store page, it is based on "The Colloquy Project." Now I use Colloquy on my Mac and I must say that it is the best IRC client that I have ever used and has a great UI. It is the same for Rooms, it has a simple UI that anybody can learn in about 5 minutes.

Now, time to move on to the features (or lack there-of)

Now, unffortuneatly, there are some downsides to Rooms. First of all, it is still in a beta form, so a lot of features that you would expect in a good IRC client are not there quite yet.

To start this off, one of the features needed for anybody with a registered username on an IRC server is some form of password input. Rooms lacks this feature. Why? I don't know, maybe the creator thought that people could just add [iPhone] to the end of their username. Who knows.

The next feature that is not present in Rooms is the basic "/" commands for instance, if you want to change your nickname, you have to go into the settings for the server that you want to change your nick for. If you enter /nick you get a message that says "/nick is not a valid command." This could be a for channel owners that do not have a bot in there channel.

Over all, Rooms still needs a lot of improvements, but it is usefull if you just want to look at a channel that you own while on the go. If you want a IRC client that can do more then what Rooms can do at the moment, I would suggest Mibbit, it works on the iPhone/iPod touch and is web-based.
